Meet the New Interns!

20170907_184345My name is Malerie Lovejoy, and I am in charge of the English Department blog page. I am a junior, double majoring in Linguistics and English, with a Creative Writing emphasis, and a minor in French. I’m originally from Ballston Lake, New York. Within English lit, I really enjoy the English Renaissance, American Romanticism, the Beat Generation, and modern bestsellers.  I am also a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College where I am currently working on a thesis project in fiction writing. I hope to use the experiences I gain working for the English Department to work in the publishing industry as an editor after finishing my degree.

IMG_3788My name is Caroline Abide, and I’m running the twitter account. I’m a senior English major with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in Gender Studies. I’m originally from Biloxi, Mississippi. A book I loved reading recently was Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I’m a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, where I’m working on a creative thesis in the genre of creative nonfiction. I also have been a copy editor at The Daily Mississippian for two years.

unnamedMy name is Hannah Hurdle, and I will be running the Instagram account. Born and bred in a town like Oxford, rich with classic literature and history, it is truly no surprise how I love any form of storytelling from reading and writing to theatre and poetry, which is why I am currently a senior double degreeing in journalism and English at the University of Mississippi. My future goals are to become a certified interpreter for the deaf and to continue my education by attending graduate school where I wish to get a master’s degree in library science. When not spending my time with my nose in a book or writing some sort of story, you will either find me practicing sign language with the Ole Miss Handbands, volunteering with the Wells Project, or hiding away somewhere in the Kappa Alpha Theta house studying.

My name is Sarah Michelle Liese, and I will be running the English Department’s Facebook Page this semester. I couldn’t be more excited to be an intern for the Ole Miss English Department. I would love to hear any post suggestions or feedback along the way! A little something about me is that I am a fellow for the Native American Journalist Association, where I write stories about Indian Country. However I dabble in English, hence my two majors being Journalism and English. With that being said, poetry is my favorite form of literature to read and write. When I’m not writing articles or poetry, I am exploring Oxford. In the future, I plan to continue my writing career either in journalism or English or both!
